Wheelock School House
Education in the community dates to the Wheelock Academy in the 1840s. In 1907, Thomas Wade Hedrick and his son, William Love Hedrick, bought 220 acres and set aside 2.4 acres for a new school site. No records of county financing have been found, so it was likely financed by the community.

Wilson Chapel Cemetery
John Riley Sadberry moved from Burleson County and settled in the Benchley area ca. 1896. Because of his desire to establish important social and educational resources for the community's African American population, he purchased property in 1909 for the creation of a school, and also purchased adjacent property in 1919 for a community church and cemetery.

Wootan Wells
Famous early health spa and resort. First well was dug 1878 by landowner Francis Wootan. Water tasted good, but turned dishes yellow and clothes red. Even so, it seemed to possess amazing curative properties. Wootan soon built a hotel and in 1879 a resort town made its debut. He formed promotion company with T. W. Wade and more hotels, a bottling works, dance pavilion, and school sprang up.
