The junction where the running fight of April 19th, 1775 really began. British troops withdrawing from Concord's North Bridge had to cross a narrow bridge over Mill Brook here, and militia companies arriving from surrounding towns opened fire as they did. From this corner east, the orderly retreat became a sixteen-mile gauntlet.
